Description
The purpose of this course is to prepare the New York City school teacher with the skills and knowledge of approaches that can be used to assist students in making decisions for optimum health and human functioning, including discussion of health and safety topics that are important to the Birth - Age 21 population. The topics will be presented with both theoretical aspects and practical application in the classroom. We will discuss the role of the classroom teacher as a resource person and agent of change in health issues that are relevant to the promotion of wellness of children and their families from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Mandated trainings included are Child Abuse and Neglect, School Violence Prevention and Intervention, and DASA.
