Non-Degree Admission


Students who are not interested in earning a degree but wish to enroll in college credit bearing courses may be admitted as nondegree students.

Hunter College will continue to accept and review completed Admission Applications after the priority deadline on a space-availability basis. A completed application includes your online Admission Application and all supporting documentation.

You will be notified of your admission decision via email. Decisions typically begin to go out 4 weeks after the priority deadline. 

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for non-degree admission if you satisfy one or more of the following conditions:

  • You have completed high school/secondary school or the equivalency exam

  • You plan to attend Hunter as a visiting students while enrolled at another college

  • You have already earned an undergraduate and/or graduate degree

  • You are currently a senior in high school/secondary school

Additionally, if you are a student educated outside the U.S. you may apply for non-degree admission if you possess a valid F-1 visa and satisfy one of the following conditions:

  • You are currently in attendance at another college/university

  • You are enrolled in an ESL program such as IELI

Supporting Documents


Make sure to have the following required documents ready to attach to upload and attach to your online Admission Application:

  • Proof of high school/secondary school graduation (diploma or transcripts)

  • Unofficial college/university/post-secondary school transcripts (if you have earned more than 24 college credits)

  • Written approval from your high school principal or headmaster, etc. (for current high school seniors only)

Additional Requirements for Students Educated Outside the U.S.

  • A letter of authorization from the Designated School Official at your current school or ESL certificate program

  • Copies of your I-20 or OPT card (front and back)

Tuition and Fees

Application Fee

A one-time application fee of $65.00 will be added to your tuition bill after you have been admitted and completed your registration. You are not required to pay the application fee upfront.

Tuition
If you are taking a non-degree course, you will pay the non-degree student tuition cost per credit, per course. 

Financial Aid
Unfortunately, financial aid and scholarship opportunities are not available for students taking non-degree courses.
