Course Title

Mellon Public Humanities Senior Seminar 2

Description

Is the second semester course of the two-semester Mellon Public Humanities and Social Justice fellowship course series. In this semester, students extend the research undertaken during the first semester to a broader public. They work with a cultural organization, community group, policy or government agency, and create programming concerning their area of inquiry, typically (though not necessarily) focusing on a social justice issue. There will also be shared readings giving concrete examples of publicly engaged humanities projects, and discussions of the concept of the ‘public.’ Students will also have opportunities to learn from experts on production of podcasts, blogs, videos or other public venues.
