Description
This production course is an introduction to the fundamentals of 3D computer graphics. In this project-based class, students will learn how to construct 3D virtual environments using the software Autodesk Maya and Substance painter with hands-on and in-class exercises, including modeling 3D assets, lighting and shading 3D models, applying custom textures visual effects and rendering of final images. They will also consider 3D computer graphic imagery within a broader artistic context, learning from the practices of contemporary artists and storytellers, and be encouraged to think in a critical and conceptual way. By the end of the course, students will have the foundational skills to construct 3D virtual environments, and will be able to begin building a portfolio with 3D computer graphic work
