Social Disparities in Health

Description

This course explores in depth the social, cultural and political factors that influence and lead to health disparities and health inequalities. Course examines demographic trends, trends in mortality and morbidity and the role of history, race, class, policy, and socioeconomic and cultural factors, and health literacy levels in the development and continuation of disparities in health. It also discusses the concept of social justice and its application to health, health care and health disparities.

Open to listed majors. Open to others who meet prereqs, & w/PH faculty advisor clearance per space availability. Prereqs: as shown & incl PH 30100 or transfer equivalent.
