Program Description

Students in the Major in Arabic engage in linguistic and cultural training focusing on the Arab Middle East and North Africa through coursework in language, literature, and culture. Graduates of the Arabic program will have attained advanced linguistic training and will have a deep cultural knowledge that will help them pursue work in governmental and non-governmental organizations, business, human rights, and social services. In addition, graduates of the Arabic Program will have attained a broad array of knowledge and skills that will allow them to pursue advanced studies in a number of academic fields including anthropology, art history, comparative literature, linguistics, history, Middle East Studies, philosophy, political science, and sociology.
