This course explores the historical and cross-cultural development of “cult” television, from cancelled programs whose narratives are kept alive by audience fandom, to the mainstreaming of cult audience behavior for high-rated programs today. It also addresses how streaming platforms and broadcasters have produced, marketed and organized programming as having cult status.
