Description

Through readings on the role of ethics in international relations and philosophies of international law, such concepts as national interest, international community, world peace, self-determination, state sovereignty, human rights, and global justice will be introduced. These concepts will be applied both to classic issues such as just war, international distributive justice, and the legitimacy of nation-states, and to emerging issues such as the ethics of imperial hegemony, environmental sustainability, and ethnic conflicts.
